Virgin Australia is a former Australian airline that operated both domestic and international flights. The airline was founded in 2000 as Virgin Blue and was rebranded as Virgin Australia in 2011. It was owned by the Virgin Group and later by a group of investors led by the private equity firm Bain Capital.
